About HealthyTexas

HealthyTexas, a statewide public/private partnership established by the Texas 81st Legislature, provides a new health insurance option for small employers in Texas. Texas Department of Insurance is the state agency responsible for implementing and administering Healthy Texas.  In order to participate in HealthyTexas:

• Employers must qualify as a small business with 2-50 eligible employees;
• Employers must not have provided group insurance 12 months prior to HealthyTexas application;
• At least 30% of employees must receive annual wages at or below $32,490;
• The employer must pay at least 50% of the premium costs for employees;
• The employer must offer coverage for dependents of employees; and  
• At least 60% of eligible employees must elect to participate in the program.
